About Jonathan Albutt

Jonathan started his career in 1984 at Weymouth College in Dorset. He completed a two-year, full-time course in architectural and monumental masonry achieving the qualification of Advanced Craft In City And Guilds.
During his time at the college Jonathan gained additional hands-on experience with one of Yorkshire's most reknowned stonemasons, working on a variety of projects.
In 1989 Jonathan started his own business and has subsequently undertaken a wide variety of projects, ranging from bespoke commision sculptures and carvings, war memorial renovation and maintenance, through to providing risk assessment and method statements to respective organisations.

Due to Jonathan's years of experience and knowledge the scope of work that he can undertake is extensive, from original creations to restoration.
For examples if his work, see the Gallery.
In 2004 Calderdale College appointed Jonathan to the position of lecturer in Stone Carving, which he held for 5-years.
In order to preserve the teaching and practice of stone carving, a number of Jonathan's students established the West Riding Stone Carving Association and Jonathan continues to provide hands-on teaching in 3-Dimensional sculpture, letter carving and relief carving.
